Organza Lavender Bowl

I was introduced to making these delightful rocking bowls by Amanda Simmonds. I spent a lovely week in Scotland soaking up so much information, a real treat. This technique uses heat and gravity to create the shape of the bowl. It does require constant viewing once the kiln is up to temperature to check it has reached the depth you want. So you really need to be there to move the programme onto the cooling phase. The scary part is when you have to cut off the rim and keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t crack…. Then it’s down to very delicate cold working to produce the perfectly fine rim. This one is as delicate and see through as fine organza.

Bowl is approximately 6.5cm x 6cm
