Are you ready to organise a party, a Hen-Do, team building exercise or just a good old get together with friends doing something different day, then this is for you. Or maybe a day just to yourself.
Days can run from 10am to 4pm with refreshments, biscuits and lunch included, but will be adapted to suit you and your budget.
A 2.5 hour session to include all materials and a firing is £125. Private tuition is £90 per hour plus materials and firings.
Depending on your groups’ experience, we can decide together whether you want to include all materials and firings too, or use them as an add on. EG: If you want to use cranberry coloured glass…. well that’s expensive. And if you want to cast glass there are a lot of extra materials and longer firings required – as well as taking two sessions in the studio.
If you want an introductory day where you can learn all the glass basics from cutting and designing to firing it is £250.00 per person. Sadly, not including the cranberry glass, but you can buy it separately if it’s what you really really want…… You will be able to make coasters, wall panels, jewellery, textured or smooth finishes, pop metals, papers and bubbles between layers to name a few. You will be surprised how much you can make in the time – even as a complete beginner. You can come with ideas of your own or follow a guided plan for the day. Many options, just get in touch to start a chat, there are no silly questions.
For safety reasons you will need to wear full shoes/trainers (no sandals please) and your not so precious clothes. I do have aprons available in the studio.
You will learn:
- How to cut glass safely and confidently using a Toyo glass cutter
- The importance of the compatibility of firing different types of glass – we will be using Bullseye glass
- What inclusions are and how they can be used – glass frit, metals, Glassline pens and paper, bubble powder, stringers and more
- How the top firing temperature effects the finish of your piece. What is meant by tac fusing and full fusing
- What to use to clean glass before firing and why it is essential to do so
- How to use an electric grinder and ring saw
- And much more as we chat through the day so bring a notebook.
No previous experience necessary.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Feathered Glass studio
